Actually, yes, if a game goes against what people actually liked/loved about previous games in the franchise, that made them fans in the first place, then I do think their opinion has incredible merit. Kind of like Bomberman on Xbox. Or the latest Sim City. Or Metroid Other M. Or Star Fox Assault.
I don't personally actually care, as I've never been a DMC fan to begin with. But I have many friends who are, and I know for a fact that they all had legitimate gripes and reasons for hating it. Kind of like how I myself am a longtime Castlevania fan, and cannot stomach the "Lords of Shadow" garbage they (or rather some Euro developer they hired) are putting out now. Why? Because it's not Castlevania, in any real sense. I tried it. And I just couldn't do it.
Like I said, if YOU like DmC, congrats. But you obviously have a polar opposite opinion to most of these longtime DMC fans, being that you say you weren't really a fan of the rest of the games, but like THIS one, whereas they love the other games, and hate THIS one. Everyone has their own taste. But your opinion isn't any more valid then theirs.
