Epic got rid of an IP they weren't going to work on and MS got a huge IP that brought them a ton of success already. Personally I think the rumored price is extremely cheap considering how big the IP is. I mean, MS supposedly paid over 50 million just for timed exclusive GTA DLC. 100 million for the entire Gears IP is a bargain in comparison.

Personally I can't wait to see what they do with it. The idea that it's "creatively bankrupt" is silly. Do people consider Uncharted to be creatively bankrupt? I see people hyped for the next in that series all the time. Yet it had the same history. 3 games by the creator then 1 less successful and less acclaimed knock off made by someone else. Look what Retro did to Metroid. Writing it off instantly is foolish imho.
