Wonder who will win China when Nintendo, Sony and MS set sails... With over a billion people in one country, it could either be a large success or a big failure. Shit should be fun

Brazil has over 200 million people, and yet a console is still incredibly lucky to even sell much more than a million there. Contrast this with the US at about 1.3 times the population, yet had nearly 199 million consoles sold last gen.

The raw numbers simply don't matter, the average joe is simply too poor and piracy too rampant. Free to Play is the only real way to make money outside of the 3 super wealthy regions that have a long history with the console game market.

While I wouldn't discount Sony being about to sell a nice little bundle among the top 5% of China like they already do in India and Brazil, the concept of the console is simply too late to gain any ground in these regions. Most can't comprehende why they'd want to BUY more expensive hardware when they can just play games on their PC for free, that's all they've ever known. Something like PS Now is something that will have far more potential in these regions longterm as connections continue to improve.
