From VGC data, Wii still selling and sold extremally well on 5 years. Fad is ''a thing that becomes very popular in a short amount of time, and then is forgotten at about the same speed.'' I dont think 5 years is a fad... Also why can't you accept that the Wii outsold hard the ps3 and 360? People just cant go on that Nintendo was the winner of last gen... Back in some years ago, comparing ps2 to ps3 shows that ps3 was a fad too... No one wrote bash articles/comments calling it a fad as long I rembember....

But it was a fad waggle was a fad, waggles irrelevance in gaming now shows waggle was a fad.  There is no set time for a fad, some last short other plod along for a few years as the wii did but they all become irrelevent as wii and waggle has. soe fads last a year liek waring stupid clothing whiel huge ricer wings on cars lasted nearly a decade.

How are PS2 to PS3 sales anywhere similar with wii and wiiu ???  Wiiu will be luckly to sale 20m, selling one fifth of the wii compared to Ps3 selling + half of PS2.  I guess you dont see a difference there ? so this is almost pointless, but stop being foolish making baseless analogies that make no sense just to defend a fad.  Wii sold great but it sold due to it being a fad.

Ps2 sold 155m units WW, ps3 sold 80.9m units WW, I can't see it reaching 90m...  This breaks your '' argument'' of '' PS2 and PS3 sales arent similar to wii and wii U''. What WiiU sales have to do with this point? Sorry to ruin your fanboy dream again but Wii U HAS ( not saying it will) potential to even reach 64 numbers. Fad is a term that you and other love to use to something that did better than your favourite console. Can't just accept and have to make excuses to justify the great sales... I think YOU are the one that don't see the difference here.
