Wii was a fad yet it sold more games than Vita by a land side this year.
Wii is still selling strong in SW deparment and still sells HW. He beat N64 and GC on the HW leg deparment.

Look at Nintendo's numbers since the NES:

62 mil for NES

49 mil for SNES

32.9 mil for N64

22 mil for Gamecube

100 mil for Wii

18 mil for Wii U...

There's a clear spike that defies pretty much all logic; followed by a huge dropoff for the Wii and it's successor. That's pretty indicative of a fad. The fact that it's still selling software made for the casual audience is because of its 100 mil+ stong install base of a mostly casual audience.


Sony went from 160M consoles to 90M with the PS3. i guess that spike that is comparable to GC to Wii proves PS3 is a fad too.LOL.NO. It sold 100M because it was a great product very well marketed period.

You just made up the 18M number for WiiU. And its a pretty bad prediction by the way, your not going to make it.

Wii is still selling quite a lot of SW because is not a fad. Thats a real indicative.

Sony's audience was split between PS3 and 360 (a completely different demographic from Nintendo's audience). PlayStations big drop-off was compensated by Xbox's spike in sales: Xbox One went from 24 mil sold to about 85 mil lifetime for the 360. The Wii's dropoff is compensated by what? It isn't Wii U sales. The novelty of the Wii wore off and people moved on, while the PS3 and 360 and their successors are still selling very well.

I added an edit to the post you quoted btw: "Notice how in the same year that the Wii had a 31% drop in sales- the PS3 and 360 were actually up yoy..." (Correction the PS3 was actually down 4% that year, but up the next).

Fact is PS2 to PS3 drop is similar in userbase to Wii  to WiiU, fact is WiiU is a lot more expensive that Wii ever was, fact is you are making up the WiiU LTD number.

Everything elso is just low-tier conjecture to fit your agenda.

I am making up the Wii U's lifetime as a prediction of how the trend of Nintendo's home console sales were going prior to Wii.

As far as price goes... that remains to be seen. Maybe if the Wii U was $199; more people would buy it. But the audience and novelty Nintendo had with the Wii is no longer there and short-lived.


Really? How come Wii audience is not there when the best selling games on the platform are NSMBU, NintendoLand and WiiPartyU?

I'm completely open to being proven wrong. I haven't seen sales numbers for Wii Fit U, but if it really is one of the top selling games for the Wii U - then a case could be made.
