...gears was epic's showpeice for the unreal engine. take it away from epic, take away it's bleeding edge status and the only game using the best possible technology availible and, imo, it won't stand out anymore. it will be another shooter in an oversaturated genre. throw on the growning pains of a newly established studio and the new leadership (that even if they have good ideas) will "change" the franchise and we've seen time and time again how pissed off people get when you change an established franchise.
