Well, this thread is kind of old, but I'll give my 2 cents.
Its funny that I see people take different stances in the combat system. I'll categorize them in two ways. Noob, and Pro.
Noobs tends to not understand the battle system, and gameplay. They complain about it because they don't understand it I guess.
Pros understand the battle system. They understand Familiars get stronger depending on their level, and how happy they are when you give them treats. That effects how well they fight.. Its that simple to understand.
get pro status. If you cant best all the optional bosses, you're still noob.
