As long as the car is within sight, there should be no punishment. What if she had stepped outside her car and leaned on it for 10 minutes? How far is too far? Is there a law for the distance that is legal and illegal? Is 1 yard legal? 2 yards? 5 yards? There needs to be a law defining what is correct and not. It's a very grey situation that is being painted black and white by the police and this one poster superchunk, who from the sounds of it doesn't even have kids, otherwise he'd understand the difficulty of carting your kids around everywhere when it's not necessary.
