Drivatars do little new that pawns didn't do in Dragon's Dogma, the main difference is it uses your own playstyle in Forza while in Dragon's Dogma it uses the pawn that you trained.

My query and question is this.

Why last gen did games not use this but just instead of online players in the dev team? Use that for AI. AI in Forza 4 is Nothing like Forza 5. Why? Why is reading real world players SO different?

I am currently recording some races both online and off. And the results are really impressive. I guarentee noone will be able to tell which one is the AI. All videos will be posted from the cockpit view. Then I have some comparisons of GT6 and Forza 4 singleplayer. Its such a huge step up in singleplayer AI.

The main difference between this gen and last gen is the amount of data that can be stored with the cloud and what's done with it. Virtua Fighter had something similar last gen, but it's system relied on you selecting specific data points manually, whereas the cloud does this all on the fly while you're racing. That's why you need to be online for it to work. The cloud will store all the decisions you made on depending on the track, how fast you were going into a corner, how many cars were behind you and in front of you, and what car you were driving. It will even get data from the decisions you made when you were bumped to a certain extent. By certain extent, I mean there are safegaurds put in place by Turn 10 that prevents your drivatar from doing dickish/cheap maneuvers even though you've done them in a specific situation. I've heard that this is still a work in progress, but is constantly getting improved by patches and the natural evolution of the driver data.

Here's an explanation from Dan Greenawalt. He has trouble explaining it himself, but you can get a better idea of how specific the cloud makes the drivatar decisions over time.

@Lucidium - Race ghosts are completely separate from drivatars and aren't considered at all in the equation. I believe that's the Rivals mode that Forza has had for a while.
