I dont care about Kojima, he is 3rd party, MGS4 is from 2008. We have games like Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, The Last of Us, God of War 3, Beyond, Heavy Rain etc and you bring up an old game to prove your point? Those exclusives I summed up destroy everything else on consoles. All thanks to the Cell. The Cell more than overdelivered, it made up for the weak gpu.

I love it, people are under the assumption that the Cell made up for all of the Playstation 3's deficiencies.
It's a slow cost-sensitive processor, not capable of rendering advanced 3D graphics, you can't expect high-end performance in a console, it's rediculous.

The Cell was mostly used to augment graphics like some framebuffer effects or using CPU time to decompress highly compressed Textures/Normal Maps or using an edge-based blurr filter as a cheap form of Anti-Aliasing.
Which to be honest, the Xbox 360 could do anyway, just far less of it.
The Cell isn't performing Tessellation, advanced Shader effects, superior Shadowing and lighting all with thousands of units on screen.

Anyway. - Most games on console use and abuse 3rd party game engines like the Unreal/Gamebryo amongst others which really don't push any boundries at all in terms of image quality, it's really only the developers who are exclusive to a platform that will take advantage of a systems particular nuances to make their game shine in the graphics department.
We saw that with Naught Dog's games and we also saw that with 343i's Halo 4 all of which looked amazing by console graphics standards.

The Cell... Was a waste of time, money and transisters, which could have been better spent on more Ram or a better graphics processor.

I agree that Sony didn't deliver on the "1080p" promise. No doubt about that. They still delivered on the "best looking games" of the generation. Unique, immersive GOTY winners.

Is there a game last gen that had the "scale" of War 3? The incredible set piece shoot outs of Uncharted 2 (the train level is astonishing from a design and structure perspective)? The attention to "detail" of Killzone 2? The epicness of the Mawlr boss fight in Killzone 3?

I rest my case.

Sony delivered on their promise. They didn't deliver "entirely" on it though.

P.S. Thanks. I'm enjoying vgchartz. : )

The best looking games weren't even on console, the PC was, has and will always have the best graphics and if you wan't scale... Try playing a game called "Sins of a Solar Empire".
You can be staring at a small mining ship orbiting a planet... And zoom right out past a solar system, to see multiple galaxies with thousands of units/objects on screen.
