As someone who doesn't own a Wii or WiiU. How important is the space on the system? I heard Nintendo games are a lot smaller and there is less to download.

Umm, you'll have 3GB on the White model and 27GB on the black model. (Yeah, Nintendo didn't mention that 5 of the gigs are going towards the systems OS and other such things)

This really depends.  If you intend to do a lot of downloading or download AAA games, like Windwaker and 3D World, then you NEED to buy an external hard drive.

But if you're just gone to buy solid copies and only download a few things, you should be okay.

I don't think I will buy any AAA  games digital if I can get them physical. Just plan on downloading some indies and virtual console games. I guess that 27 GB will take me far then.

I've got 12 games save files and any dlc and updates for them, downloaded 4 vc games, Edge, Rush, Trine2, Zen Pinball with 5 tables, Star Wars Pinball and Nano Assault Neo.  Also have Amazon prime, Hulu plus, Youtube and Netflix apps on there.  still have plenty of room with 18gig left.

With the approach Ninty is taking, a massive storage device isn't necessary right off the bat.  At some point I can pick up a usb drive of my choice and expand the storage to whatever I desire, and i like that freedom.
