You can say the exact same thing about the 360 and the Wii, they got an early lead because of all the mistakes Sony made with the PS3. Yes Sony profited off of Microsoft's missteps with the XBO, but it's foolish to think that's the only reason they've succeeded with the PS4. If that was the case then the WiiU would also be a big success. It takes more for a console to succeed than having the competition fail.

I guess my question would be then what are the other reasons why the PS4 is doing so much better then the Xbox One?   The reason why the Wii U is failing is easy to see, and it has nothing to do with hardware specs whatsoever.   They moved 2.3 million (2nd best launch ever at the time) in the first 5 weeks on the back of NSMBU and Nintendoland.  Then Nintendo literally only released one game for 8 months and that was a Lego game with no attached brand (if Undercover was Lego Zelda, Pokemon, or something else it could have been huge).   Then they tried to push consoles with Pikmin 3 (Never been more then a 1.5 million seller, even in its hayday), the Wonderful 101 (Gamecube game made 10 years later), and a Zelda Remake (Remakes only sell 30-40  percent of their original, destined to only be a 1.3 - 1.5 million seller).   Wii Party U should have been Mario Party U (more brand recognition).  SM3DW was the only game to boost sales (995k in December) and with the overexposure of Mario, there was no way on its own it was going to move some crazy number of consoles.   If DK and Mario Kart were released during the holidays like they originally were suppossed to, it would have no doubt outsold the Xbox One(1.5 m), and would have given the PS4 (2.15 m.) a very strong run for its money.
