| superchunk said: I read the article, I get the point that in this exact case the child was not in any real danger. But, that is not the point. Leaving a child in a car by themselves should be illegal and no-one under any circumstances. I definitely don't see her getting jail time anyways. Probably just a warning since the child was not in any real danger. But, the simple fact is, if you are going somewhere and you know you will not be able to take the kids out of the car with your for whatever reason, don't go. Do it later with help from other adults or leave the kids with someone else. |
Dude, you just said you live in Arizona. This was around chicago. Realize that there is about zero risk of the kid getting baked alive in the northern US during the cold season. Even on the majority of summer days except maybe the hottest few of the summer.
On the other hand on the coldest of days even a few minutes outdoors could cause alot of harm. The US is a big country, climates can be very different from state to state. Here I have never heard of any child dying from being left in the car... because it does not get hot enough.
It should be obvious when the parent is in the right or wrong by leaving their child in the car. Do things need to be so black and white? I think thats the real issue here, is that the cops are being tools about this and refuse to acknowledge the fact that every event that takes place on this planet is never exactly the same.
