Well you need one "New PS3" for every PS4 user that wants to use the feature. When the PSN system goes online, roughly every second PS4 owner will want to try it out just for once. Imagine 1million users logging in around 6pm and you have your answer, essentially big howling incoming. The hope is that less than 50-75k users (per continent) will remain in the end at any one time (that would translate to 10k boards per continent). Both companies have the same problem, they have nothing currently (yes, Azure runs on data transaction server structures, it is NOT a gaming service structure), but unlike Sony they can throw money around.

So that's how they plan to "sell" 120 million PS3s.
