Radiant Dawn was weird in the pacing department. Micaiah's chapters were pretty challenging then you get Ike's team who are way overpowered relatively, then at the end, you get a couple unkillable characters to help you beat the game. I didn't quite get why it was designed that way

To make sense in the story department. Micaiah's team is the oppressed group that starts a revolution to put an end to the reign of terror of Begnion's forces. Ike's team is the same that won the preceding war; turning that group into weaklings would have been pretty strange. Towards the end everyone joins forces and that includes the kings of the nations of the Laguz; and those peoples traditionally make their strongest individuals the kings, so they have to feel overpowered compared to all the other Laguz characters.

All that might have led to some uneven pacing, but at least it didn't break the suspension of disbelief.

When you put it that way, it makes a lot of sense. It does defeat the SRPG elements though when you can power through the end with OP characters whcih defeats the whole idea of not allowing grinding. I do think it would have probably been best to maybe stick to Micaiah's team throughout (while maybe telling the story of Ike's team in the background) because it did seem somewhat pointless to have built her team so much only to discard the vast majority of them towards the end.
