Well with Sony we actually have some cost reduction estimates (which you would know if you had read my post's properly). Even if we did not, we know that the console costed a tonne of money at startup, and as recently as the last quarterly report the console was still losing money. Given the PS3 has now lost $2 billion+ and the company has shareholders breathing down their neck, do you think they can afford an imminent price drop?

Why not push the price up minimise the loss. Making huge losses can be business suicide.
