The more features you add, the more complex the code becomes. With growing complexity comes more potential for oversights and openings. The 360 firmware was hacked a long time ago to trick the disc validation system. The GameCube's flaw first opened with Phantasy Star Online. The Wii is hardmodded, as is the DS, which just used to use a real game to trick the system into playing pirated games and homebrew. The PS2 and Dreamcast were compromised by mere bootdisks.
