Nintendo is THAT important because they are the last large publisher that insists on creating games of high quality. One by one other publishers are falling to the 'story driven' and 'emotion driven' drivel that the mindless consumer demands. Don't worry though, Nintendo will not be along in this form for much longer, soon the  true quality will be drowned out in an ocean of high polish, lowest common denominator bullshit that 'AAA' publishers are pushing, and quality gamemaking will be relageted to niche status and chased off onto the indy market.

I know most people don't give a shit and are eagerly lapping up the latest 'epic story' or  'hyper realistic' graphics that one of this turdfactories churn out, but I am saddened to see that making games is becoming less and less important while rolling out glitter and confetti gets you 'Game of the Year' awards and 9.9 on metacritic.

Fuck you all.

Thanks.

Wow, just wow. How dare people enjoy different games then you. We should all like the exact same type of thing! Then gaming will be awesome again! Jesus Christ, get off your high horse because this is disgusting to read. Some people like having great storytelling in addition to great gameplay. Who the hell are you to tell them what they should and shouldn't enjoy? Please grow up and realize that not everyone is going to have the same tastes as you.

C-

How about you grow up and learn to not rely on a strawman argument?

Don't I at least deserve a B for calling you out on your attitude? I've read enough of your posts to know that you condemn storytelling in games and anybody who enjoys them.

No, a C- is better than you deserve for your lack of reading comprehension.

I have never condemed storytelling in games, nor the people who enjoy it. I have just pointed out that in my opinion storytelling as an artform and videogames as a format is about as compatible as a moose and a bike and as a result to this day videogames have produced not one single worthwhile story, but rather an ocean of extremely mediocre story telling and equally mediocre game designs.

That is my OPINION, and has nothing to do with condemning anyone or anything or telling people what they should enjoy or do. I have long ago resign to what I see as a fact: That the videogame industry will colapse into a shadow of the movie and music industry. Meaning that craftmanship will be replaced by showmanship and glitz, the massmarket will bow down to and lap up the most inane drivel as long as the presentation and hype is strong enough (and yes, I consider story part of the presentation and not the substance).

It saddens me to see that the path is ireversable and it likely means that my 30 years as a videogame enthusiast will likely die with it, but I'm not some sort of moron who thinks that means people should do something they don't want to to facilitate my tastes. I don't condem people for listening to One Direction, I don't condem people for watching Avatar, and I don't condem people for playing The Last of Us. I just hold their tastes in low regard, that's all. Now if my opinion on this matter is offensive to your sensibilities: though cookies.
