That's not the troubling part. There will always be singleplayer games around. Games like Titanfall are meant to play competitive in multiplayer so I don't really mind it being multiplayer only.
The real troubling trend is forcing multiplayer into singleplayer. To the point where you just want to enjoy your game and suddenly there are other people in your game you didn't invite.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
