It's logical that it can. It's logical that if you off-load some aspects of the rendering that you free up local resources. Therefore, you can use those free resources to do more. |
"It's logical that if you off-load some aspects of the rendering" this is why i call you naive, a 30 fps game renders the entire pipeline in 33 miliseconds, now go to the command line in your computer and ping google, type "ping google.com" you will see it takes up to 100 miliseconds for the answer to return, and note, the google servers didnt do any calculations they responded instantly, in this ideal condition, if a game were to off load anything from the rendering pipeline to a server capable or returning the data instantly you would get 5 frames per second, read that again 5 FRAMES PER SECOND.
The bandwidth between the memory and the video card of the ps4 for example is 176 GB/s, lets say the average house has 5 MB per second connection, adding cloud computing with the ideal conditions were servers take 0 second for calculations and an imposible 0 seconds network latency would increase processing power by 0.002840909091 %.
Do you understand now, how stupid it was when they tried to sell cloud computing as something that could improve graphics ????
