Why we really have no clue which console will win this gen.

Yep GC would have sold less without those games but that doesnt change the fact that they couldnt push It past 22m. Mario Kart was bundled on GC as well and like I said Smash is releasing at the same time on 3DS which could potentially cut off any growth on the console version.

I think a lot of people underestimate how much popularity (especially Mario Kart) gained with the Wii and DS. Back in the N64 and GC era those games were popular sure, but nowhere near as much as the Wii and DS games.

Literally millions of kids got introduced to Mario Kart, so there are millions of potential buyers for the Wii U one. I don't expect a miracle coming from Mario Kart U nor anything like that, but I do expect the game to give a bigger boost than Double Dash made for the GC.

I do agree with you on Smash Bros. having the game on the 3DS will hurt the Wii U sales.
