The only 2 franchises that sell more then Pokemon now are COD and GTA. Yes they could hurt their handheld sales, but at the benefit of moving atleast 8 - 10 million Wii U's and along with all other software that those owners will buy. X, Bayonetta, and Hyrule Warriors all exist because Nintendo is making sure to lock up the Japanese market, which it no doubt will considering that PS4/Xbone have nothing that will interest the Japanese. PS4 could no doubt lead this gen but to call it a lock is ridiculous. The PS3 would have only sold maybe 40 million consoles if it wasnt for COD/FIFA, good luck being carried by those 2 for 2 generations in a row. |
So the Wii U will lock down on a market without all the big third party games to go with it (FF + Kingdom Hearts + Metal Gear Solid, etc.), okay, I'm interesed to see on how that will turn out. So why did the PS1 sell 100 M+ and the PS2 150 M+?
