I can't imagine them actually being foolish enough to try this.
If they started making their main franchises exclusives on an unproven system there would be a high risk of them destroying their fanbase (to the extent that they have one). If they tried this and failed they could see years of losses and a competitor might be able to talk the NFL into not renewing EA's exclusivity contract.
Other third parties are unlikely to support a company they primarily see as a competitor and third parties are generally hesitant to follow a new player anyway.
The only way this is conceivably possible would be if all of EA's management were entirely composed of congenital idiots and yes men. I must admit, there is a chance of that being the case.
