This is good for the Xbox crowd. Perhaps the biggest shift to next gen for them.

Having been a 360 user past gen, it was frustrating beyond belief to play player hosted MP games like COD and Halo. Earlier in the gen, the host quitting would literally end the game (COD4) and later on we had host migration. Even then, the host advantage (or disadvantage with lag comp) was a complete mess and hit detection was all over the place.

Luckily, playing Ghosts on PS4 with dedis has improved the online MP experience greatly and most Sony 1st part MP games have been on dedis for quite a while now even on PS3. Hopefully this will continue forward even more.

Are you sure that Ghosts on the PS4 has dedicated servers?  because I don't think it does...

Activision kind of pulled a bait and switch with Ghosts in general.  They are still peer hosted.

Yes, I'm almost 100% certain that Ghosts is indeed on dedis on PS4. I've never experienced a single host migration in Ghosts since release, and that would be impossible without dedis as seen from every COD since COD4. Besides this, lag is very rarely an issue and the hit detection on Ghosts is the best since MW2, if not the best.

That being said though, I think it's relatively easy to test whether the game is on dedis by looking at the connections that are being made to your router using some software that are out there. The software tells you the IPs and if it's a dedicated server, you can just track the IP to check out the website of the server provider. People did this with BO2 when Activision was test running dedis on that game prior to the release of Ghosts. I'm sure someone must have done the same checks for Ghosts, and if it was never on dedis, then it would probably have been reported by now.
