Witnessing the turnaround of the Xperia brand has been pretty amazing. A couple of years back Sony didn't have a worthwhile iPhone, Galaxy contender..now they are right up there with the S4, HTC One and iPhone 5S.
I think a big contributor to this success is the omnibalance design that Sony has used in its Xperia range. Thin, sleek, elegant designs that is getting universal praise. And while finding that design was great, the big change i see in Sony is that they haven't flip flopped from the design. Remember how they went from the Arc to the bond phone and then finally settled with the omnibalance design in the Xperia Z.
That being said there's a lot more that Sony can do to improve the Xperia line and make a real challenger to the likes of the S4.
Whats still annoying about Sony, is that even though they have a uniform design language in their Xperia line (smartphones, tablets) they havent really extended this to their vaio line. In fact i think whats best for them to do now would be to consolidate the vaio line into Xperia. I think the vaio line has weakened substantially over the years especially given how slow Sony has been with the uptake of ultrabooks. I mean what were they thinking?
Anyways I think they moving in the right direction, having a uniform design language across all their products should be the final goal. That way your brand will be synonymous with a certain look and feel, which is something Apple has done so well in.
