Stronghold is a defensive construction. So unless Microsoft pilled up thousands of Xbox consoles to prevent ships from delivering any PS4's to the UK, using the term ''stronghold'' is just plain silly. |
Good lord you really don't know how metaphors work. If you can only conceptualise stronghold in a literal sense then the use of this term in the context of console sales dominance in a market is beyond your comprehension. You really don't see that in the metaphorical sense MS had appeared to build up a market (a metaphorical fortification) in the UK which was capable of defending against (i.e. getting more hardware sales, hence a strong wall, i.e. a loyal consumer base) PS4?
If one is going to borrow terms from war to describe competition in the console market then what do you think is a better description for an apparently secure market for a console?
