I am totally serious here........Sony selling something is essentially a non-effort on their part.

Sony: We are announcing _______

Sony fans: LOVE it!

PS Move (when fans denounced the Wii), PS Plus (subscriptions), PS4 multiplayer (paywall), PS Now (internet requirement). They seriously can't miss if they tried.

Good point.

Except, PS Move pretty well bombed and is done, kind of like 3D push for a bit. Sony fans do not buy up what ever they sell. Fortunately the PS4 was not forced to have a camera and move included, allowing choice and for the console to be $400 instead of $500.

PS Plus offers huge amount of value for anyone who games with tons of discounts and free trials.  There is nothing comparative by Nintendo or Microsoft in cost and value to PS+

Paywall is not great, but given it is...

1. Combined with PS+ great value already

2. A set precedent by Microsoft

...really softended the blow. Hell, I don't even have internet and I paid $60 for 2 years of PS+ to take the systems over once a month to a friend's place and get all the demos, trials and discounts.

PS Now we honestly still do not know about how it will do.  On the internet requirement, when the entire basis of your idea (streaming) is online based it is understandable. Especially when you consider that traditional methods of acquriing physical media will continue.  No one is being forced to use PlayStation Now.

If Microsoft really was Sony this is how their E3 would have gone.

"We are really excited about the Xbox One! We are pleased to announce two SKUs, one with Kinect for $499 and one without for $399! Also, Xbox Live will now have Xbox Live+, a premium service that will offer free game trials and discounts. Now this optional service will also allow gamers to store and share game easier via their hard drive or the cloud. To do this will need a reliable internet connection. Thank you."

There, you offer choice, you offer value and I guarantee you people would say "Well, I don't like Kinect, but no biggie, get the $399 SKU which makes it on parity with the PS4.  Also, that Live+ service is interesting optional service that could change the way I game. Not sure about it, let others try and if it is good value I could see using it.  If not, no big deal as can keep playing like I did on my 360."
