I'm an nVidia fanboy myself but I can't help but look with envy to what AMD ha to offer at the moment.
As for the CPU you should go with the Xeon E3-1230 v3. It's at about 99% of the power of a 4960x but 4 times cheaper.
For an SSD you can't go wrong with a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB. You should install your games on it as well.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
