What vivster said. If you are going for gaming only, then your current CPU is overkill. Also the savings can allow you to get an SSD for OS and applications installs (everything will be much snappier).

Also, though it seems to differ among different people, I'd say the AMD R9 290x gives better value for $100+ less (It's weaker, but not a big difference; i.e. BF4 @ Ultra is 4 fps less on average).

Edit: Forgot to add AMD has Mantle, and recent BF4 presentation showed promising results.
