| oldschoolfool said: the only convincing arguement I've read so far is that booze and tobacco are legal, then why not the wacky ta-backy. that's a fair and valid argument, but if that's the case, then why stop there. Why not make all forms of prostitution and gambling legal while were at it. Why not lower the age of marriage to 13 and marry animals while were at it. 2 wrongs don't make a right. |
"Why" or "Why not" arguements are silly and can be used for just about anything. It is a redicullous counter arguments and should not be used as. Well, we have Wars. Why not go further and allow genocides and ethnic clensing? Why ban chemical and biological warefare? We eat several types of meat, why can't we eat cats and dogs? Why aren't we allowed to eat human flesh? (Yes, those were mess up examples but I think you get my point.) It could go on and on.
I thought we were going to talk about Laws concerning Marijuana, so why don't we stick to the topic?
The fact is prohibition doesn't work it. People who want drugs will try to get regardless of the law. That is evident by the large amount of people who are regualr user and even larger amounts of people who've tryed it or was once a regular user.
Not only does prohibition not work it makes things worst. It drives the price up and pushes the market underground, thus creating a black market. It is because of black markets that gangs and criminal organizations flourish and become more powerful.
