OP sounds very biased. Let me guess: You've never tried weed for yourself but you're basing your argument on "research" or what your parents told you about it.
Obviously, if you did nothing but smoke all day, then you would be an unproductive member of socieity. Same thing goes to drinking all day. Should alcohol be illegal? Or watching tv all day. Should tv be illegal? Or eating all day. You get my point.
Bottom line: if alcohol, which causes thousands of deaths each year; and cigarettes, which also causes thousands of deaths each year; is legal, then marijuana should also be legal. There are zero confirmed deaths from marijuana overdose or related incidents in the history of, ever.
Your argument does not really have a leg to stand on; just biased.
