Most successful does not only mean sales. People like to fall on that defense but the truth of the matter is that it made the biggest impact in a positive way compared to other Final Fantasys. For instance, people still want a remake, and we have movies, animes, sequels, and prequels. Other than the fact it sold more copies than the rest, it is still in the top 10 most classic PSone download on PSN since 2009.
