Can we "invent" real magic?

Well, but that is the case for all magic. To those who pratice magic, it is a natural thing, the only supernatural stuff is what we do not understand.

I don´t think Gandalf says "Wow, that was spooky" everytime he casts a spell.

In the context of it´s lore, magicians do not do any unnatural stuff, they only manipulate very real (to them) aspects of nature, the creation and the Universe. Which is what science does in the real life too.
