Mario Galaxy. With the exception of a few segments (mostly the motion controller ball levels) the entire game was enjoyable from beginning to end. There are few games of any real length that don't have any dull points, any lulls, or any downright boring segments.

The level design of Mario Galaxy was endlessly inventive, and the promise of a new surprise or gimmick around each corner kept you engaged. The controls and physics were perfect, and never once did a death seem like it was anything but your fault. Something as simple as Mario's spin attack was a minor revolution in gameplay, allowing an added degree of precision that most 3D platformers lacked. That's not to mention the beautiful clean cartoony graphics, the tremendous soundtrack, and so on so forth. Simply a joy to play beginning to end.

IMO the only game that even came close to Mario Galaxy was Galaxy 2.
