I was kinda saved from *extreme* ridicule because I was on the football team (but I wasn't a jock), people hated me because I constantly screwed up the curve (but I let people cheat off me) and because I (my dad) had an extra house that I threw keggers in every weekend. I was still a nerd though.
One thing I can't prove but actually strongly believe is that the tougher the childhood you have the more interesting you are as an adult. Of course, I could be totally wrong.
