There are few possibilities...
New SKU or SKU's <-- likely
Maybe they found issues with certain series/batches of PS4's that are maybe defective of below standard
Someone screwed up at fabrication plants thus defective yields?(less PS4's produced) <-- would not be surprised --> TSMC lol
Sony is out of stock of their PlayStation 4's(factories can't produce much of them?!) <-- possible
They will/are starving western market as they prepare of Japanese launch <-- most likely
