I think it's a very dated and backward thinking view point to see something like PS+ as a danger to the industry - instead of viewing it as a huge opportunity to change the way we buy games in a way only beneficial to the consumer - and in turn those who supply the consumer. Much like how Netflix has removed everything consumers disliked about TV, and is now thriving, and Spotify is convincing millions of people to subscribe to their service - even though we could just download (albeit illegally) everything they offer for free.

Video games have this $60 day one at retail type model because historically that was the only way a publisher could get their games from their warehouse to the consumers homes. But that is a dated model from a by-gone era and while services like PS+ may ultimately kill that model - that will be for the benefit of the industry and not the detrement. Only those who don't adapt and evolve to the new business model are going to suffer.

I think it's foolish to predict what that business model is going to be and how games will make money in the future - because I doubt people could of envisioned a service like Netflix or Spotify in the 90's. But it'll happen, and given how amazing (I think, anyway) Netflix and Spotify are I'm excited to see where PS+ or whatever other services that appear take us!
