As someone who actively claims what the OP says I'll say why.

I consider the Xbox One to be the default FPS console, Call of Duty is the default FPS game. Therefore Xbox One is the default choice for Call Of Duty. Whether this will actually be the case remains to be seen. Currently the home of Call Of Duty: Ghosts is Xbox 360 so neither of the current gen consoles can claim the game.

The fact of the matter is, with cross game chat, the achievement system, easier game capture, more reliable online servers with Xbox Live, and exclusives like Halo; the 360 placed itself as the console of choice for FPS fans. Now, does that mean people can't play CoD on PS3/PS4, not at all, but I expect Xbox One to take over from Xbox 360.

Brand loyalty goes a long way, as does simple "comfort zone". Considering that considerably more people play CoD online on 360 than PS3, it's reasonable to assume that if they stay brand loyal, Xbox One will have the lead in that demographic. Add in system selling exclusive (or at least console exclusive) games like Halo and Titanfall and the common practice for Microsoft to purposely buy up "timed exclusive" (or as I like to put it, "bribe so you delay the release on our competitor") DLC and map packs, and you have a console that, again, is seen as a "shooter box".

Even if the Xbox One has equivalent or slightly lower sales for games like Call Of Duty than the PS4, I imagine it'll still maintain this image if only because the Xbox userbase are more active players, and the Xbox Live community will be more supported/represented in that regard.

Right now, we can't really make judgements on the consoles based on their own sales figures, it's far better to extrapolate based on previous brand performance. Now granted PS4 has done far better than PS3 (well, actually it just didn't shit itself while Wii U and especially the glorious Xbox shat themselves quite openly a publicly). This could be a factor, but even with the PS4 converting some gamers, the hard core Xbots, most of whom are Halo nutters and as such massive FPS fans, will never be converted. Microsoft will always be the "home of FPS", even if PS4 outsells it in every way.
