It's called that because that was the image created of the Xbox brand by American and British gamers at a time when Modern Warfare was first making its mark on the industry and the 360 was significantly leading the PS3 at that time. It was basically good timing (bad timing?). The 360 was without a doubt the lead platform for the franchise. It also helped that Call of Duty 2, arguably the best launch title the 360 had, never made its way to any other 7th gen console. There is also the part where Microsoft spent 10 minutes of a 1 hour reveal event talking about the new Call of Duty while having only spent 15 minutes showing off 6 other titles. Four of which were featured only in a single montage video. I don't necessarily find it to be a bad thing but with Call of Duty in the state it's in Microsoft and Xbox fans may do well to try and distance the brand from being associated with what appears to be a declining franchise.
