The only real flaw I can see in the series was that most of Season 1 was Adventure of the Week, some of which naturally fell flat. But beyond that...yeah, not a lot to criticize. The recap episode was also a perfect example of what a recap episode should be.

Adventure of the Week? Can you explain more please? :)

Until the last three or so episodes of that season, the only time episodes felt related were the first two and the episodes where he met the Fire Sages. Otherwise, it was largely a series of "visit new place, meet new characters not alluded to before, solve local problem, rinse and repeat." There was world building and the like going on, of course, and many of those characters came back in later seasons, but for the most part the episodes felt largely disconnected from each other. This is the part of the show where the characters are covering the most ground, geographically, and it affected how much depth they could have at any given place.

While I do completely agree with you, I don't think that was neccesarily a negative thing. The first season had a lot of backstory to say and characters to introduce. I wouldn't have it any other way :D

Also they seemed to improve the story telling with each season.
