The world "fanboy", "troll", and "flame" seem to be over and misused. I just see a lot of people playing the victim and engaging in almost McCarthian accusations of anybody who disagrees with their precious opinion a fanboy.
Ironically, that motivation itself is fanboyish.
And just to make it clear, there will always be idiots. Welcome to the internet. But acknowledging those idiots and using them as examples to play the victim is like what Anita Sarkeesian is doing. Just engaging in ad hominems to shift the topic away from the substance of the discussion to a discussion about how rude the internet can be.
