I used to preorder all the time as a kid, and even more so during the few years I worked at a game shop (though that was always just because preorders helped out us employees). Now I rarely buy games at launch anymore, and almost never from a brick and mortar. Plus it's not like I ever want a game that will be in such high demand that I might not get a copy, especially when I don't tend to care about getting it the exact second it comes out.
This is making me miss being a kid and preordering stuff and being so excited that I had to get it immediately. Growing up can be lame. I remember having the original Animal Crossing preordered for months and rushing to the store to pick it up on launch day only to have them tell me it wasn't coming in until the next day. I felt like there was no justice in the world.
