This. UT3 and Quake 3 are the best shooters. If they want to do something to add longetevity, add perks that you can equip while still keepi everything else the same. Perks that double small health pick ups, perks that double the amount of ammo weapons you acquire start with, etc. Maybe perks that let you jump a little higher, double wall jump, triple jump, etc. Have a ton of different perks and only allow a certain amount to be equipped at once. Make sure they're balanced though, not stuff that's too good. Perks early in the game that are just as good as later ones but used differently.
Not that the game needs perks, but those people who play the games just to prestige. It'll keep them interested in requiring you to get level ups.
