What you got to understand here in the UK when the NES, SNES were beasting in north america, the Master system and Megadrive were doing really well here. I would go as far to say that the megadrivve may have even outsold the SNES for most of the console war here. I would not be surprised if the megadrive has more units floating around in the UK than the SNES.
Nintendo has never "won" in the UK. Not console wise. Even when the nes was around the commadore was still doing good. But thats like a PC vs cosole so.
