I like the GamePad's and Pro-Controller's button placement. The only problem is the lack of analog triggers.
Imagine the GamePad with the right analog stick at the position of the A,B,X,Y buttons an vice versa. It would be uncomfortable as hell and you would probably get cramps using the right analog stick.
X360 layout wouldn't work well with such a big controller. It would have worked with the Pro-Controller, but changing the layout would be confusing.
There are third party Wii U controllers with X360 layout from Nyko, Big Ben etc.
