It seems to me that this site could use a bit of better PR work. I don't frequent these forums much, so I'm not aware of all the past posts by ioi, but perhaps there should be a prominent page on the site explaining the methodology and rough error range of the numbers. I imagine some of it's a bit secretive, but surely at least the info posted in this thread could be posted more prominently.

Basically I think vgchartz provides an excellent service, but it's a shame it has such a poor reputation. You can literally be banned on NeoGAF for mentioning numbers from the site. Most gaming sites won't post numbers from vgchartz, and when they do the comments are always full of posts explaining that the numbers are "made up" and completely untrustworthy.

Maybe you don't care what idiots on the internet think, but I can't imagine such terrible publicity could be good for the rest of your business. My advice would be to hold an interview with one of the more major gaming publications or even write a short piece that one of them would publish explaining more about what you do. Heck even just posting a Q&A thread like this on another site could do a lot of good for your brand.

It's great that you have a set of trusted partners, but you could really have a lot more if the dominant theory on where your data came from wasn't "out of thin air".
