The Vita's design is alot better than PSP i though, except for the small grips next to the touchpad.
Given what is inside Vita, it's amazing how it ain't bigger.
Yeah the buttons may be smaller on Vita, but i personally like the clicky buttons on Vita.
And also i had no problems with button placement on either system. The battery life is more the problem with both system.
All i know since i bought a Vita, my PSP slim seems so small and light to me.
