Many gamers (95% of cucurent gen) are "casuals" and they do not look at the web every day to see opcomming games.. future resolution.. power and fps artickels. But if you have 2 new system in the stores.. that are almost the same.. i bet a lot of people (casuals) would see the "720p" as not that good as 1080p.. So i can understand MS.. |
Are you kidding me? For a moment I thought you were the OP.
1. You think the same casuals who don't care to read about games elsewhere are going to care about arbitrary numbers on the back of a box? Most probably don't even know what it means.
2. Since when do any people decide which console they want to buy by reading the backs of games?
3. Since casuals don't look up on games on the internet or follow big conventions they get their incentive to buy games from commercials and ads. They decide then if they want to buy this game or not. Not based on any numbers. They won't even know or exepct that they are different on different consoles.
4. Casuals own only one console or only care about one console at a time. Why would they look on multiple boxes of the same game and compare numbers? They buy the game for the console they use.
5. No company would ever put anything on their box that would make their product look worse. That's why you don't see a sticker on every console that reads "achieved through child labour". MS does nothing bad or sneaky or desperate here. Also native resolution is not something that would normally be on a box. Apparently it can even change in the course of patches.
