Patent the manufacturing process. They were working on finding a technology to amss-produce OLED. OLED is currently every expensive for everyone who makes it, including LG and Samsung. Their venture was to find a much cheaper alternative, which yes, IS patentable.

Just like you can't patent games, but you can patent process for making games, ie; engines and languages.

It wouldnt take too long for the other manufacturers to do the same.

It took sony and panasonic 2 years with no result. It would have been really good for both of them. Would've given them both a much stronger foothold in the industry, considering they'd have the advantage for at least a year plus.
