He didn't "confirm" anything. Read what he said, instead of the media's interpretation of it.

Bold: When you have very recent history of "lying" (twice), is it so weird to suspect them of lying again when evidence points towards it?

Serious question. What were those lies by MS? I have missed them.

He's thinking of when MS said 80m in NPD and it was actually in october they passed that (and they've done that before) I assume. But MS clarified the 2m+ was sold to consumers. They have never lied, they've just made something appear what it isn't. In this case there is no room for that.

MS claimed something like "76m shipped/sold" and (I don't remember the exact milestone) and then when the fiscal results came around the shipments were lower than they had claimed earlier by a few hundred K. That is a lie, nothing else (or a bad estimate...), because shipments hadn't even reached that number. That and what you said above.

Again, they didn't lie.

http://www.slashgear.com/microsoft-xbox-360-sees-76m-units-sold-globally-12269019/ 76m Feb 11th. They shipped 75.9m end of Dec 2012. So they were past 76m when they made that statement. It's not lying it's just being deceptive, but hey it's not even that, they said they were at 76m+ shipped, and they were telling the truth at the time of saying it.

Far less deceptive than combining numbers though.
